Very unlikely, try this instead:

LNB Switch 11700

Don't know if that causes your dll error though.

Sorry hungryhippo, I cant really see a cause. The logs seem to end when the second tuning attempt is made with this device. I can only guess its something buggy about the drivers, or not liking to Hauppauge Nova-S or something.

Unfortunately this isnt a common card now, so I havnt really seem much feedback from other users on how it performs.

Thanks for all your help sub Sub. I will play around with this card and see if i can get it working.

Newyankee i did change the switch and it still crashes. I managed to get rid of the dll error by installing the mfc71.dll that sub sent me. It fixed that.

Anyway thanks once again. HungryHippo

Over on the hauppauge boards some people have been having problems with the hauppauge sat cards crashing when tuning with xp, check my last post here for what seems to fix the problem, might be related to your problem

Sub, jerryg - i managed to get it working... but i am not sure how

Jerryg, The symptoms were exactly like mine so i tried those two files the link mentioned but it made not difference. At this point i gave up.

I downloaded another program called media portal which worked without a problem. I then tried gb-pvr and to my amazement it worked. It scanned the channel list without crashing.

I then tried to watch tv but gp-pvr kep crashing. I then reinstalled the two files in the link again and hey presto it works without a problem. Thanks for your tip guy. It was really frustrating trying to get this to work so thanks for your help.

Sub, i am not really sure why it did not work in the first place. I guess gb-pvr and media portal must have some files in common and what ever media portal installed must be the right versions for my card or something. Are all gbpvr program files installed in the gbpvr directory or do you also install files to the windows\system32 directory?. If you do install files to the system32 directory what ones are they or where can i get a list of them? What i might do is uninstall media portal and gp-pvr and then reinstall gbpvr and see if it still works. thanks once again for all your help.

Yes, all the GB-PVR files are in the GB-PVR directory.

I seem to remember they install some additional video decoders etc, so maybe a change of video decoder has helped?? I dont know really.

I am trying to get WinTV Nova-S Plus to work with GBPVR. I have read and re-read this thread and read the wiki but I still don't know what LOF1, LOF2 and LNB switch settings are or how I can find out what they should be.

I downloaded the budget drivers from http://www.TechnoTrend.de as per this thread. It was not obvious what or how to use them I'm still not sure what I did but Nova-S is now listed in my choices. A scan completes but I see no pictures . I'm lost and completely in the dark. Can anyone help please?

These LNB settings are often written on a sticker on your LNB, attached to the end of your dish.

If you have a Nova-S Plus, you shouldnt require the technotrend software. This was only required for the original Nova-S, which was a rebadged TechnoTrend device.

Have you seen the card work in any other software? If so, you should be able to check the LNB settings there.

No. Well guessed.

Reverted to WinTV and it crashed during scans. I phoned Hauppauge support and they sent me a patch. Scan then OK but no video only sound. H support then told me to re-install my video driver (ancient Intel 740 AGP card) and try different setting on their "Primary" application. Success Big Grin I now have video and audio.

Went back to GBPVR. I now have a jerky picture and stuttery sound.

A box called "Tuning Settings" comes up at start up. Its drop down list does not include the Nova-S however, so if I change country and OK it, it complains " Failed to find crossbar filter. Wrong device type?"
Fair enough, but why isn't the Nova-s in the list when it is in the Config application?
