Thanks so much

I should have specified that the powerencoder muxer is best for processing DVR-MS files as I had similar problems using it as a direct muxer. Only TS and the ATI mux worked for me and the ATI mux has problems with playback but transcoding works fine. Good to see it's working for you. If you still need info on muxing with the M71, just ask.

I'd be interested to know how you ATSC guys fare when you record using the 'ts mux' option, and then try running the following ffmpeg command line to convert the file:

"c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\third party\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe" -i c:\path\to\recording.ts -vcodec copy -acodec copy c:\path\to\recording.mpg

I just saw your reply and I will do this for you sometime tomorrow as tonight it is recording a couple of shows.

Unless something changed with DVR-MS support recently, FFMPEG will choke on the AC3 audio. It misreads it as PCM and you get static. Mencoder gets the same result since it uses the same library.

Have you tried DVBPortal's TSConverter? It claims to do what you are asking about. I'm going the other way, from MPEG to DVR-MS, and it works flawlessly.

With parameters sub uses: -vcodec copy -acodec copy both streams are just copied to the new mpg. So it's a kind of demux/remux, as I see it.

As an interim step to get it to wmv-hd for playback on the XBox360 Extender. Windows Media Encoder seems to choke on my mpegs, but churns through DVR-MS with no problems.

Sub..I tried but it gave me an IO failure??? I will try again with another recording.

BTW..I am now having a problem transcoding files that are recorded on FOX in 720P. The 1080i recordings work great, but I really want to do the 720p recordings (24 on Fox). Can anyone explain how to remove the DVR-MS wrapper in Graphedit?

Are you sure you got the paths right? It sounds like it didnt find the file you specified.

I havnt tried this approach on many files, but it did work when I tried it.
