Hello, guys
I just received my MPV. I installed it direct without using any router. I'm using a crossover cable. It works fine with its own software but not with gbpvr server. I removed the MPV software and then installed it again and then stopped it but it keeps looking for a server even though I have gbpvr server running.
What could it be?

Thanks

You must have a recent version of the Hauppuage software (from http://www.shspvr.com). The original version supplied on CD with the device will not work correctly with GB-PVR.

I installed this new version but it does not do any change. But anyways, why would I need this or the old software if I read before here that the software that comes with it is not needed because we have to stop it before we can use mvp with gb-pvr

My answer above was the 'easy answer'.

If you have a DHCP server on your network, then you dont need the original Hauppauge software.

If you dont have a DHCP server, you must allow the original Hauppauge software to boot to the MVP. GB-PVR will not act as a DHCP server. The original software will act as a DHCP server. After booting the MVP to the original menus, then stop the Hauppauge MVP services (dont remove the power from the MVP), and start GB-PVR.

If you do require the original MVP software (either for its DHCP functionality, or because you use it from time to time), then it must be an up to date version.

Thanks Sub. I do have a router which connects my pcs but this installation is not near my router so I decided to do a direct installation using a crossover cable. Anyways, I will try your recommendation because I have not had luck yet.

here what to do install new version of hauppauge software, run it until your tv says loading application, then once it says starting application, go to your computer stop hauppauge mvp server then run gbpvr mvp server it should work, you want to let the mvp software load which is the dongle.bin file (the one from hauppauge). once this is done you should be able to connect..

I did what you suggested. I installed the new version and it worked but now the remote control does not work. So, how do I make the remote to work. I have the silver 45 buttons control that came with the MVp.

thanks
