In my quest to wirelessly stream LiveTv to a laptop set up as a gbpvr client, I have been running a bandwidth meter to help diagnose if my connection can support it. As a recap, I can able to stream recordings without any issue and the meter tends to show about 17 Mbps data rate. When I try and stream LiveTV using file sharing i get about 1 Mbps data rate. When I stream livetv in streaming mode, i get about 8Mbps data rate. So even with streaming mode i get about half the bandwidth utilization that i get when I am watching recorded shows. I am wondering why the difference in data rates? I am guessing it is possible the reason I am not successful streaming livetv is partially due to this suboptimal utilization? As a note...when I use a hardwired connection I get similar data transfer rates. One other note...I have tried the cyberlink and ATI muxs (dvr-ms mux, as previously stated by sub does not work). The ATI has worked "best" for me. Any ideas?

One other question...is there a reason I am not able to watch recorded shows on the client when set up as streaming? Watching recorded shows only works for me when I am set up for file sharing. I was assuming that the client should be able to play recorded shows form server even in streaming mode. I have the clients recording and video libraries folder settings pointing to the servers recording folder.

Sorry, I cant answer your question. I dont do any wireless here, and have only designed/tested the client PC stuff with wired networks in mind.

I'm one of these folks that doesnt think you should use wireless for anything video related, particularly if you're dealing with MPEG2 video.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the client and server logs and I'll take a look.

Here are the log files from the client. Do you want server logs as well?

It was because you're trying to view a .dvr-ms file via streaming mode. These files cant be streamed since they need be read using the Microsoft StreamBufferSource for reading the file on the client. If it'd been a .mpg file, then it should have worked.

Sub...even with a wired network I am seeing similar bandwidth as mentioned in my first entry of this thread. Any thoughts?

Its probably normal. I've not done any special optimizing to make sure minimum possible network resources are used. The way I've done it seemed to work fine on wired networks, so I nevered needed to look into this any further.
