So GB-PVRs native support for MCE remote won't work, meaning I'll have to program all buttons for HIP? I don't know if HIPs configuration for MCE is the same as GB-PVR, and I can't compare the 2 because I don't know how to look up what codes each button responds to for GB-PVR and HIP.

If you use HIP, you will not be using GB-PVRs native support.

You should not have to program all the buttons. When installing HIP, you will need to install the Alternate driver, and then load the template for the MCE remote...

During the configuration wizard, it asks for a Remote Key Map. Select 'MCE-Remote.hkm'

It then sets the remote up to work with Media Centre. But then, you modify a few other settings, and it uses GB-PVR...

That will get you up and running. Then you have to tweak...

GBPVR native MCE remote
TV= turn tv on/off
Stop= Stop what is playing back, back to menu
PC= go to Standby
Record=record selected item in Guide, or show being watched
Pause= Pause/ starts time shift mode; when in time shift mode (when paused)
play and paused button will undue the pause
Play= when guide is displayed, play selects the highlighted channel for
viewing; ok shows menu with recording options for the channel
Rew= Goes back 30 seconds
Fwd= Goes forward 30 seconds
Replay= Goes back 1 minute
Skip= Goes forward 1 minute
Back= cancels whatever is currently active and goes back to main menu
Start= nothing
DVD menu= nothing
Live tv= live tv
Recorded tv= clicking on xrecord (ready)

When watching live tv, more button displays main menu but displays tv in
data menu in the main menu. What it should do is when you hit more is equal
to hitting guide and then hitting ok.

Is this right? Is this what HIP does?

I can't get a question out of this...

If I gather correctly, you are still using the GB-PVR native support.

If I setup HIP and tell it to use GBPVR settings, will it program the MCE remote to do the actions I listed? I don't have a list of keyboard commands that GBPVR sets for each button on the MCE remote, which is probably closer to what you need to know.

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manua...dReference

Don't know why it took me so long to find that, never mind. Thanks for all of the advice. Time to install HIP!

The alternate driver severs the remote from the operating system so you won't be able to turn off the computer either (at least not the direct MS way)

There are templates that you load in HIP that would make most of the buttons work right out of the gate...

Try it. The worst that can happen is that you go back to the original MS driver and you have GB-PVR work natively with the remote, and not have some buttons...

Solved my own problem by reading more, driver replacement info is here

Here's my HIP codes I'm using for GB-PVR, everything seems to work so far. Cool app, just takes some reading to configure it.

You remove/uninstall the MCE driver, then scan for new hardware. It will find the ehome all by itself

Wakalaka I am looking into having the PC button put my system in standby and I noticed this by you. I am wondering if you could expand on how you implemented this button please.
