I dont really have time to write you a detailed question for them, but basically you're asking for information about how third party apps can submit QAM tuning requests with their M780 BDA drivers.

Well the people at aver media got back to me today and unforunatly their response wasn't what i had hoped for... Sad

"Currently, this is not possible. However, I will forward your concern on to our engineers."

hopefully in the future they will come up with newer drivers that will allow for support. It turns out that i was wrong about the digital cable signal here in the dorms, at least in my building. I ran a qam scan with their software and came up with nothing, i guess that it must be filtered in the dorms but not in the apartments. I am able to make due with the OTA, i ended up making my own HD uhf antenna based on the popular DB4 antenna.

If I understand the previous posts, the ANALOG cable section works with GB-PVR, and the OTA works, but QAM is still unresolved.

My question:
If one was to connect only cable, does one need to split the signal to both antennae?

Or can the user select which input (OTA / cable) is feeding each tuner?

Thanks!

jackelmatador Wrote:Hi Everyone,

I have got the AVerMedia M780 working, and would like to share the little knowledge I have.

For the ATSC side add this to your bda.ini file
[AVerMedia M780 (ATSC)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=AVerMedia M780 PCIe BDA ATSC Tuner 2
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVerMedia M780 PCIe Digital Video Capture 2
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=Mpeg2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=Mpeg2 Transport

hello,

new here, hope I dont cause problems. Smile
I've just installed the AverMedia M780, and have attempted twice to alter the bda.ini file as described above. neither attempt has been successful, i.e. - when I go to add the ATSC tuner to my available capture devices, it doesnt appear in the drop-down menu. the only AverMedia M780 that shows up is the Analog tuner. can someone please tell me how to remedy this? also, has unencrypted QAM support been added to this software? if not, are there plans to add support for QAM? I find GB-PVR to be the most digestable PVR software, as AverMedia's Media Center and AverTV 6 both seem buggy to me, and adding channels, etc. is far easier and more automatic using GB-PVR.

thank you

Did you remember to set the recording source to the 'BDA Recording Plugin'? If you did, but its still not showing, are you runnig on vista?

You can use unencrypted QAM in GB-PVR with the HDHomeRun and the OnAir GT devices. Sorry though, no QAM support for the AverMedia M780.

My M780 only records either ATSC or NTSC, one at a time. Not both at the same time. These are supposed to be dual tuners and can record two shows at once. Anyone else got it running?

I did have it working, but I no longer have GBPVR installed so I can't tell you with what version I had it working. I watched one ATSC while recording NTSC but I can not remember if tried recording both ATSC and NTSC at the same time (shouldn't make a difference)
