Possible to get US program guide without internet

I have a friend who would like to use gbpvr with a OTA HDTV card to record programming but he doesn't want to have the internet at home.

Is there a way he can download the program guide over the air? Barring that, he does have the ability to connect to the internet at work. Could he download the guide periodically from work to a USB drive and bring it home to install on his PC there?

There is no ability to get it over the air for ATSC, but you can use XMLTV, which would enable you to do offline EPG updates. You'd run the XMLTV grabber at work, then bring the files home on a pen drive or similar, and place them into the directory that GB-PVRs XMLTV EPG Source is configured to use. You wouldnt need to do this every day.

Sounds like a pain.. But it should be possible.

I'm pretty sure zap2it supports xmltv and you can configure GBPVR to use an XMLTV file that it will load in.

There is a code displayed when go to set up your zap2it account in the guide configuration.
