sub Wrote:Unfortunately I'm not really sure. There are no solid leads in the first log.

The second log seems to have a ton of messages relating to the a viewing reminder, though I'm not sure if this lead to a MVP disconnect or not.

When this occured I did not see any reminder messages in MVP....could it be that if I am watching something and the reminder comes up and there is no response to the reminder that it is blocks MPV communications?????

It may be something like that. I dont think its the waiting for input bit though, more that something in the reminder stuff is causing a null pointer exception. My development environment still isnt back up yet though, so I cant check into it just yet.

How do you assign a static IP for your MVP? Is it possible with my WRT54Gs.

I don't know if this is also related, but sometimes when I'm watching, and press skip or reverse too quickly, the remote would stop responding but the video will continue, I would not be able to get out or get a response from the remote. The only way would be to press the STANDBY button and restart.

This very problem began being reported in a number of different threads by many MVP users right after GBPVR 99.12 was released.

I myself have gone back to 98.13, which is far more stable on the MVP which is the only way we use GBPVR... and the MVP WAF is all important to keeping me happy. Smile

I had to do the same because the remote was dead 4 times per evening

tipstir Wrote:UB, try assigning a static IP to your MVP once your Router DHCP auto assign them. It seems to work better giving them a static IP.

1. connect faster
2. more stable

I am using the dongle.bin that sub has in 99.12. I could never get mvpdongle to work nor get the beta from HAU to stablize with 99.12. Also I am fixing all my skins to work better with OSD skin. So far so good in test and usage.

If you see my sig below I had to change a few things around. I had loaded WinTV2000 and found out with the 3rd PVR-150 that it wasn't seeing video it was only audio. As they do post on there site only 2 PVR-150 use be use. So I've pulled out the 3rd and stuck it with the 4th in my clone system. Once doing this I got better performance out of the GBPVR Server/Recorder and everything is recording correctly. On the MVP the wife and I watch video without any problems. So this is how I going to do it for now on...

Yea....already did that loooong time ago.

I have to agree with sub it is probably due to the reminders setting null pointers and then gettting mucked up.....if people reported it in 99.12 I think that is the release which introduced reminders so that would make sense.

For my install of 99.12 which kept having MVP remote lockups from the get-go, I never used 'reminders', so I'd think it'd be something else.

I am getting unresponsive MVP's too and hoping I don't have to drop back. May try some other dongles but I see that has been tried. No problems with skipping, just no response on some recordings. Using default blue skin.

FWIW, I used Sub's patch for 99.12 and it resolved the unresponsive MVP issue I was having. Before applying the patch the MVP was practically unusable as all the buttons on the remote with the exception of power would quit responding - now it's working quite well.

Mine has been working great since that patch aswell. I'm using the default dongle that came with 99.12.
