HI,

I cannot convert a .ts file into mpeg-2. I have tried to use gbpvrconvert but it always stops after creating 194MB of a file. The source is 1.9GB.

Cheers,

Dan.

GB-PVR has detected the following multiplex filters on your machine:

Try running the following to force it to use 5.0.1307

regsvr32 /u C:\WINDOWS\system32\ppMpgMux_5.0.0.3608_.ax

Hi Sub,

I got the same error before I installed the ppMpg mux... I only recently installed that one to see if it would improve things... but it did not make any difference.
The ts stream seems to have a glitch early on when it is played via gbpvr. You have to press FWD to skip past it otherwise it seems to hang/pause at a certain point.. perhaps this is the problem. I thought the conversion process would smooth this out.

Yeah, thats probably whats throwing it off. Not much I can do about it though - we're at the mercy of the cyberlink mux.

Did you try using the 'TS to MPG' conversion initiated from the 'transcode' button in the Video Library? That uses ffmpeg instead of GBPVRConvert, and might fare better.

Just tried that transcode option.
It transcoded the whole file, but fast forwarding just not work it seems to hang. Then trying to play it again, it hangs again.

Ah well... I guess I will stick with drv-ms -> mpeg instead.

I had thought in my intial tests with DVB-T, that the TS muxer was more robust with handling signal reception problems.

Cheers,

Dan.

The TS Muxer doesnt actually do any muxing, it just records the data exactly as it arrives from the card, so in theory it'll always create perfect recordings. It would be the robust in the sense that there is very little that can go wrong. This of course doesnt mean that you'll later be able to convert the file to anything though, since errors or glitches in the data can always cause conversion problems - these errors werent created by the TS mux though, and were present when the data was received from the card.

To repair problems with recordings, try VideoReDo Plus--there's a 15 day full-feature trial period then $50 to keep. But it's an essential tool for ts files, and just a great editor.

I dunno much about DVB-T, but there seem to be a lot of VRD+ users making those recordings.

laserfan: VideoRedo worked great... converted to mpeg and fixed the video and audio sync errors.

Do you know if this can be run via the cmdline... i.e. so that I could create a bat file to automatically convert these ts recordings?

Sorry danIrl I missed your (now very old) question--yes VRD has a cli though I have never used it myself. See their website for Help and instructions/docs.
