For some reason, a program group for gbpvr wasn't created after i deleted an admin account in vista and created a new admin account. now i don't see the mvp server being launched at startup even though i put the number to 1 in config. how do i manually start it?

Maybe the firewall getting in the way?

Zip and attach the logs and I'll see if I can see anything obvious.

How did you get the server running?

The Hauppauge software is very flaky with Vista so I definitely recommend concentrating on GBPVR. It is unlikely that you removed the System account that GBPVR uses if you did Vista would not work too well.

The easiest way to check if your Vista firewall is setup

1. Start->Run->WF.msc
2. Check Inbound rules, there should be two entries for PVRX2 both enabled, one for TCP and one for UDP. I restricted them to my Private network, I don't remember if this was by default.

The best way to start the servers is to set autostart servers on the MVP tab of Config.exe to the number of mvp's you have. Don't use the Start MVP server option on the start menu if it exists, sub doesn't recommend that.

To check that the server is running from Task Manger -> Processes click the "Show processes from all" users button. You should see

1. The GB-PVR Recording Service (if this is not there, enable using Start->Run->Services.msc)
2. The PVRX2 processes (one for each autostarted entry)
3. GBPVRTray.exe under your user account, if it is in your Startup group.

But is there a way to set it manually? I do not need the server running on the primary computer all the time.

If I set up the number of servers to '0', then I cannot find a way to started manually like I used to with the 99.# series.

Its not recommended to run it manually, since it needs to be restarted each time the MVP is disconnected or put into standby, but you can run "pvrx2.exe -mvpmode" to manually start it.
