When playing back content from the recordings menu (or from Vid Library - remote or local), I bump into a sporadic error message, "Failure playing back file" when opening for playback. Once it goes in this mode, I can't pull up any recordings (even stuff I just watched) unless I restart. After a restart, everything is back to normal. Unfortunately, I can't find a repeatable pattern - it's random, but happens pretty much daily.

Anybody have a guess on this one? I've had no luck pinning it down, and wasn't able to find a similar post in the forums ... my apologies if I've missed something. Logs attached.

Anybody? The app (and the machine overall) is otherwise perfectly stable, but I'm catching a good bit of grief from the wife and kids ... and this has me foxed. As I've hammered on it more, it seems to happen after between 2 and 10 playback requests. Any suggestions or troubleshooting ideas are appreciated.

so once you restart you can playback the file which caused the "failure playing back file"

Yup. I know - it makes no sense. Exit the app, then restart the app, and everything, including the program that just failed, works like a charm (until the problem mysteriously pops back up). Again, once I encounter the problem with ANY recording, all recordings trigger the error.

I'm not really sure what would be causing this. There isnt an obvious cause in the logs.

Is it always an AVI file that you're trying to play when this happens?

Just went in and checked - MPG fails too. So, I'm just lucky I guess ... sounds like I'm the only one with this problem. Guess I'll reinstall and see where that takes me. Thanks Sub and Stustunz for giving it a look.
