I'm currently trying to get my usb-uirt to reliably change the channels on my Viewsat 2000 satellite receiver. I am using the usb-uirt control in the source setup, but am experiencing some dropped signals. For example, if GBPvr is trying to tune
to channel 234 the receiver may only recognize the 23
and miss the 4 altogether. Needless to say, channel changes are hit or miss.
I wrote to the usb-uirt support email and receive the following response:
"...the first place to start is to verify that the IR signals are not too short for reliable
communication. Each channel digit is sent to the set-top-box in the same
way it is sent from your set-top-box remote. Typically, when you press the
button on the remote, the IR signal is repeatedly sent for as long as the
button is held. If the IR signal is sent too short, this can lead to
missing digits. Also, if the succession of digits are sent too quickly (with
too little time in between digits), problems can occur.
To get an idea of how long each digit is being sent and how much time
between digits, simply watch the red LED on the USB-UIRT when GBPVR changes
channels.
GBPVR should allow you to adjust both the time between digits as well as the
duration of each digit (sometimes call repeat count). I sould suggest first
increasing these timings (slowing down the channel change process a bit) and
see if reliability improves..."
Can the repeat count be changed or is this value hard coded?
