Updated video drivers, lost mpeg playback

hopefully this will be an easy fix, but I just upgraded my video drivers from a beta catalyst 6.10 made so that folding@home could use the GPU to catalyst 7.7, and I've lost all mpeg playback win gbpvr. I cannot even watch live TV nor recorded programs anymore =(

on the bright side pvrx2's interface no longer looks like a slideshow and looks quite nice, complete with animations

playing the files in VLC still works,

any ideas?

What video decoder do you have selected on the playback tab of the config app?

was using ATI mpeg video decoder

tried switching it to the other options,
dscaler mpeg2 decoder,
nero video decoder,
ffdshow mpeg4 decoder,
and system default,
all without results

was still using ati mpeg video decoder, sorry for not clarifying!

edit:
and the video renderer is set to overlay manager

what have you got for audio you dont want to use default for any of those settings under that tab in config

no go, still no video.....
messed with it a little more, with the video renderer set to vmr7, I gained the ability to view recordings again, but livetv still doesn't work

and untick live preview

make sure ffdshow is disabled or even better remove
