Inexpensive portable dvd player that plays avi

Hey guys, planning a road trip and am looking for an inexpensive portable dvd player than can play avis as well as regular dvds. Does such a device exist?

I've personally got a Buffalo LinkTheater PC-P3LWG/DVD (spent a whole $80 on it) and am happy with it for the most part, yeah, the server software is a bit buggy, but it works very well for me, and it can play quite a few formats either through the dvd drive, the usb port on the front (as long as the drive you attach is FAT formatted), and through the network. It worked out well for me as I found it plays the files gbdvr makes in my case perfectly.

that one is set top, did you mean a car dvd player or a set top?

Thanks for the reply. I should have been more specific. I'm talking about a portable dvd player with an lcd display for watching videos in the car.

I think toshiba makes some portable dvd players with the features you seek, although I haven't had one...

I have a Creative W player - handheld. It has a 30G harddrive and TV out cables. It plays avi's with mp3 sound but not ac3. Maybe more expensive than you're looking for, but I never found a player that would play .avi disks.

I think I paid $250.00. The screen is small but my daughter thinks it's great and it doubles as a slightly oversized Ipod for me.
