I figured out whats causing my esc key woes. I have a disability and I'm unable to use a standard keyboard... instead I use an on screen keyboard called Click-n-type. http://cnt.lakefolks.com It has a feature called auto-click where I just hover or dwell over the keys for a certain amount of time with the mouse and it automatically clicks them. For some reason pvrx2 refuses to recognize the esc key command when activated with this method. As a test, I asked someone to push esc on the standard keyboard... this worked properly. Whats odd is all the other keys I activate with click-n-type function just fine in pvrx2.

Any idea what the problem could be sub?
Sorry, no - I dont know. If the real esc key is working, then it sounds like Click-n-type isnt sending a esc key for some reason.

No, from that described behaviour its unlikely the logs will show anything.

Sub,

I am also seeing this behaviour that the esc key does not return you to the main menu from a plugin.

running PVRX2 1.0.16

have seen the effect on both Musiclibrary2 ver 6.5 and the RSS newsfeed plugin

attached is a debug log

actions as follows

start pvrx2

select Musiclibrary2 plugin

press ctrl-r to choose random music
then ctrl-g to go to MusicLibrary2's playlist screen

then esc to return to the library screen

then esc again which should return you to the Mainmenu but at this point pvrx2 hangs and its cpu usage goes to 99%

let me know if you need anything else

Does it work from built in screens like Video Library etc?

Yes it would appear to be fine from your built in video library

It might be worth asking Psycik to take a look. Its very hard for me to guess what the cause might be.

He has, think it might be a difference in pvrx2/gbpvr handling on esc key, kind of like Home key was. But will have to verify. Or it could just be an sql error.

If you can reproduce it there, it'd worth breaking into it with the debugger to see what is happening at the time, ie if it is in your code, or already finished.

You'd get this sort of behaviour if your plugin is returning true from needs rendering even after its been deactivated. The final switch away from a plugin doesnt occur until the plugin has finished rendering any animations etc.

That makes me think it is what I mentioned above about returning 'true' from needsRendering() when the plugin should be showing a deactivation animation.

Ahh, ok, and while playing if you deactivate it could very well be still returning true. Not something I've had to worry about before I think.
