XP's sleep works soooooo good for me. It wakes, records and sleeps again.
In Vista, it's not so good. Sometimes it wakes and records (never goes back to sleep) but mostly it just doesn't wake up.
If anyone is having any luck with sleep in Vista, I'd love to know you're settings and any other secrets you may have.

Thanks I'll give it a try. Although, I have had other minor annoyances with Vista and sleep. I'll see what this can do.

My Vista has a newly acquired problem of the opposite sort - I can't get it to stay asleep now! Don't know what has changed this - can't find anything obvious that is keeping it awake. Guess a lengthy trial and tribulation will be necessary to track the offender.

What mvallevand suggested, seemed to have worked for me last night. I know there were some recent Vista updates that supposedley helped fix some sleep problems. Mine still seems to pop back awake often but I've found a few things that help.
One is to go to your power options, change advanced power settings....
Now scroll down to....
"MULITIMEDIA SETTINGS"...and open.... "WHEN SHARING MEDIA"......and set to..Allow the computer to sleep...
Another is to make sure your mouse and keyboard power management settings are set so that the box with "Allow this device to wake the computer" is not checked.
Those seemed to have done it for me. I hope SP1 fixes more. XP works great for me sleep wise.
I remembered 1 more tip you can read about here http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-v...ows-vista/
