It's easy to test.
Set primary monitor resolution to 1600x1200 or lower and GB-PVR starts up on the secondary monitor just fine as it should. Change primary monitor resolution to anything higher like 1920x1200 and GB-PVR starts up on the primary monitor which it shouldn't.

This was tested on two completely different computers - both my old AMD/ATI and new Intel/NVIDIA computers with the same results.

Using renderers Overlay Manager, VMR7, VMR9 made no difference.
Switching cables on DVI connectors made no difference.
Secondary monitor is to the right (as it should) of primary as defined in Display Properties|Settings
WinXP SP2, DirectX 9.0c, GB-PVR 1.0.16 on both

Any workaround for this?

Copyright crap? Not sure what you mean. VLC and MediaPlayer Classic play video fine on the secondary monitor no matter what the primary display resolution is set at.

Personally I think its a driver problem. Maybe when the horizontal resolution reaches a certain point -- say over 1650 the driver or directx may be erroneously telling GB-PVR that the secondary display doesn't exist so GB-PVR reverts to the primary. Odd thing is that it's occurring on two completely different computers (ATI/NVIDIA) see my sig.

Hopefully sub will know whats going on.

Anything above 1600x1200 on the CRT is a bit high and I only brought it up that high only to test the GB-PVR problem. The problem is that I'm switching over to my new rig of which the monitor is limited to either 2560x1600 or 1280x800. At 25x16 the only way GB-PVR works on the second monitor is windowed having been dragged over from the primary then maximized.

I guess I can live with that but I'm so used to GB-PVR working flawlessly I've become spoiled.

Don't see this behaviour myself.

I have an LCD Primary monitor running at 1920x1200, and a plasma as the secondary running at 1280x768 (or actually a custom res to avoid overscan). PVRX2 is set to start up on Secondary monitor and all is fine. This is with an Nvidia 7600GT connected by DVI->HDMI to the plasma, and DVI on the LCD.

I'm not sure how the primary monitor resolution would matter. As you say it could be drivers. Whicj ones are you using on the NV? I have 97.73 on XP/SP2.

Sorry, just checking but is the 2ndary connected via VGA? Not that these should matter because until recently I'd been connecting the Plasma via VGA, same drivers on an older 6600GT card - no problems there either.

Try using the old GB-PVR interface and you'll see what I mean. Just tried PVRX2 and it worked perfectly. Thanks adspence!.

I was able to get GB-PVR to come up on the second monitor windowed then I would set it maximized. A small vertical adjustment removing the title bar made the display somewhat acceptable - not perfect.

Chalk another one up to Occam's Razor

Ah, I couldn't think about going back to the old interface now Smile ...though it used to work fine in 99.12 for high resolutions for me.
