gbpvr won't start up... neither will setup.

when I try to start gbpvr I get the stupid "do you want to send the error report to microsoft" ARGH

when I look at the report it says

I got all the latest updates .net3 and I believe the xml update as well.
I'm running xp home edition.

any thoughts?

My first guess would be a corrupted config.xml, but that note about "system.xml" warrants a closer look.

Try loading the various "*.xml" files into Internet Explorer (which also translates XML). It will report an error at the suspect line in the XML file.

I have run into this problem when I used wordpad.exe to edit config.xml. Unfortunately, wordpad tries to translate extended ASCII characters without telling the user and corrupting the output. I alternated between notepad (to edit) and IE (to translate) in order to "fix" it but it was tedious.
