PVRX2 screen-saver during playback

I've just upgraded to 1.0.16 & am finding that the PVRX2 screen-saver seems to kick in when playing back recordings, putting the monitor/TV into power-saving mode.

Out of interest, why does GB-PVR have an in-built screen-saver, rather than just having folks use one of the OS-provided ones & suppressing them with SetThreadExecutionState() when appropriate?

I've not seen that myself. You can always turn off the built in screen saver.

Because the Window's screen save isnt going appear on the MVP. It also lets people hook in plugin screen savers that are more useful than the Window's ones on dedicated setups. For example, you might want to show some recording status information on the screen saver, or weather info or similar.

I've just checked the system's configuration and it seems that the OS screen-saver was set to power down the monitor after two minutes, and the PVRX2 screen-saver was _also_ enabled. So I think I was mistaken in suggesting it was the PVRX2 screensaver kicking in. Does PVRX2 poke the OS to stop monitor powerdown during playback?

A recording-status screen saver sounds handy - one thing I immediately found I missed from GBPVR.exe when I started using PVRX2 is that the main screen doesn't display the "Recording now" stuff (at least not by default...). Other than that, it's very shiny indeed. Smile

Yes. I've never seen this happen in my usage.

I've just put in a new graphics card so I can now run PVRx2, and I have this problem. PVRx2 does not stop the monitor from powering off during playback, while gbpvr still does.
