Hi,

I had 1.0.8 running and everything was fine. It may be worth noting I had an issue with getting the system started up with a database issue initially where my TV Tuners Order set in the Config was not being saved.

Since then, I decided to upgrade to 1.0.16. After rebooting PC, the Status on the Menu Bar looks like a TV. GBPVR.exe Crashes. Same for the PVRX2. But I can load the Config utility with no problems. I also tried different combinations of the Overlay manager since I thought it may have been the root problem?

Any ideas? I've been fighting this for a week or so trying to figure it out. No idea. I have tried uninstalling GBPVR completely, deleting the dir in Program Files , rebooting, and reinstalling. But that seems to have no effect. Yes, this is Vista :/

Thanks
Mark

It looks like you have a damaged config.xml.

Zip and attach the config.xml and I'll take a look.

Here is the config.xml. Hope you find something with it.

I cant tell if it is the only problem with it, but the last two lines of the file has problems.

Try replacing the last two lines:
Code:
</settings>yDelay>
</settings>

with
Code:
</settings>

Hi,

Thanks for the input. I tried the suggestion and it did not solve the problem. As much as I value your effort in trying to debug the Config.xml file... I'm sort of looking in a different direction. I never modified the Config.xml manually. If it was ever changed, it was through the Configuration Utility. Not that the Config Utility is flawed, but it seems like there is something more fundamentally wrong here, maybe something specific with my hw/sw setup?

Is there any available option to go into a higher level of debugging where I or you can narrow this problem down to a more specific problem? After all, this all started with a SQL Fix to a Database when I first installed GBPVR to fix an earlier issue. I don't ever remember having any of these problems prior on an XP install.

Your fundamental problem is that you have a broken config.xml file. I dont know how this could have occurred. The only situations we've seen this happen in the past is when the user had been manually modifying it. We've never seen an instance where a patch or the app has broken the config.xml file, and given you seem to the only person with this problem, its not worth even looking into. To fix it, just copy the config-master-dont-modify.xml file over your config.xml, then tweak whatever settings you need to in the config app. (or reinstall if you prefer)

Ok. I understand where your coming from with that... So I did what you suggested. I renamed config.xml to config.bak. And copied config-maste-dont-modify.xml as config.xml. Without doing anything else, I went to reboot Vista. When it came back up, I still have the TV on the taskbar. Is there a different XML database that can cause this that I should look into? And personally, I really hope this doesn't come down to Vista's automatic File Backup system causing issues.

Forgot to mention. I did a reinstall as well. Right after the reinstall. If I run the Config Utility. Click add my Cards. Click ok. The task bar comes up correctly. GBPVR still crashes. Reboot of machine causes the taskbar to show TV icon again. This is really bugging me!

Now that you've fixed that config.xml, start the app then zip and attach the logs again and I'll see what it doesnt like.

Well, here are the logs along with the xml file for which should be ident to the dont-delete.xml file. I think its still pointing at the log for some odd reason.

I'm sure this is unrelated.... but I went into safemode and temporarily moved my gbpvr .db3 and .mdb files and rebooting and allowed GBPVR to rebuild them. But that did not help any. So I restored just those two files in safe mode again.

Your logs indicate you've still got a broken config.xml.

If you're running on Vista, you may find you've got a broken config.xml that needs to be deleted from the hidden c:\users\<user account>\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\devnz\gbpvr directory.
