What MPEG2 decoder did you set under Playback in config on the client machine?

I can't select a capture device, it's greyed out.

Using Nividia decoder for playback.

Thanks!

sub would be talking about the capture device on your server machine not the client

OK, that device should be fine for live tv. There is a known problem with ATSC devices, which is why I asked.

can you just give me a quick run down of what does and doesnt work at the moment as far as acces from the client to the server
can never have to much info
question are for what the client machine is doing
1.can you watch recorded shows
2.can you watch shows that are been recorded
3.can you see the tv guide ok
4.is playback smooth if you can see recorded or any other files
5.can you access media files on server machine and change files
6.have you shared gbpvr folder set to users can change files
7 what firewalls do you have on turn them off on the server and vista machine if you can if not do a search on what needs to be done on the vista machine

one thing you can try is ticking or unticking the live tv box in config

1 - 6 yes.

7. I turned off XP firewall and allowed all gbpvr apps access to other firewall.

The only thing I found that doesn't work on the client is the renaming logic if GBPVR cannot find the original MPEG file.

Thanks for the list of things to check. I got it working!

One last question, what's the difference between streaming & file sharing?

Answered myself below...

File Sharing Mode on Client (Vista)/Firewall enabled on Server (XP) -

Pro's: Watch recorded shows on server, access TV guide, search guide and schedule recordings via guide or search function.

Con's: Cannot watch recording currently in progress or LiveTV.

Streaming Mode on Client (Vista)/ Firewall Disabled on Server (XP) -

Pro's: Watch recorded shows on server, watch recording currently in progress, watch LiveTV and watch function enabled through TV Guide.

Con's: Cannot schedule recordings through TV Guide or Search Guide (Web enabled scheduling still works fine) and firewall is disabled.

Thanks again for the suggestions. I now have a good understanding of how PVRX2 functions.

One thing I forgot to mention, if you want to be able to delete files on the server from the client, you'll need to check the box "Allow others to change/modify my files" under the sharing tab.
