I usually have no problem playing x264 files, but I have a few DVDs I ripped a while ago that won't seem to play under gbpvr. They play fine in vlc.

I have run them through graphedit and no suitable filters were found.

The files are all ac3 5.1

I have cccp, ffdshow.

Is there any tool I can use to determine what codec is needed?

thanks

Weird. Gspot just says

file type: unknown
Mime type: unknown

this file still plays fine in VLC.

MediaInfo might tell you how your file is made up, but I don't think it will specifically tell you what codecs to use.

VLC uses it's own internal filter graphs unlike gbpvr which uses directshow...
