The logs certainly look like its asking EVR to fill your window, but it looks like EVR is just choosing to ignore it.

Does using another video decoder make any difference? For example, the MPV decoder.

Nope, no difference with choosing the MPEG Video Decoder. It's exactly the same.
.NET Framework 3.0 is installed, too.

The interesting thing is: If i use a 1280 x 1024 display resolution with a 4x3 DAR within the config, the the picture is bigger and centered. It looks better, but black borders are around this one too.

Sorry, I dont know.

I think going have to come up with a policy like EVR is only going to be supported in GB-PVR on Vista...

I'll now go to bed and tomorrow test a view older ForceWare Versions. NVIDIA made a few "bad" things with the newer drivers. Perhaps it will work better with an older one, or my system is something missing. On my system is installed the Microsoft DxVA Update for Windows Media Player, perhaps this one isn't good for this case. It's nothing you'll get via Windows Update.
We'll see... Big Grin

I have here 3 Machines and 1 Laptop. 1 x WinXP Pro, 2 x WinXP Home & 1x Vista 32 Bit Home Premium.

I tried both settings; it's the same. In my case the "standard" setting is better, because i don't like a stretched 4x3 recording on a 16x9 display... ;-)

In this Case it was the 32-Bit WinXP Pro Version.

It could have been Windows 2003 or Home Server!

Well, minutes after posting the above message, my system (yep, XP as Martin guessed. Not Vista.) froze for a few seconds, BSODed with the error message being along the lines of IRQ_LESS_THAN_EQUAL.

PVRX2 and my browser along with the usual Firewall (Comodo) / AV (Kaspersky) and few other system tray based apps were running at the time as usual. While I can guess PVRX2 as the culprit, without concrete data, that's as good a guess as any at this point.

In short, the following reboot and onward, my HVR-1600 has not been tuning in any HD QAM channels via GB-PVR (PVRX2) or the WinTV. Re-scanning for channels with both applications results in 0 QAM -OR- ATSC channels being found (i.e. any signals coming in over the lower ATSC connector). NTSC channels via the upper / second RF connector come in fine.

I also have a Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate USB stick capable of doing QAM / ATSC / NTSC (which BTW would be the perfect mobile HDTV product if it can be supported by GB-PVR down the road). Thinking the signal coming over the cable itself had dropped, I tried the usual QAM channels with my USB stick and they work just fine.

Ultimately I must reach the conclusion that either my HVR-1600 ATSC / QAM hardware / tuner is no longer working (if true, why is beyond me, any guesses?) or something else at the driver / software level is wrong.

I may just re-install GB-PVR (have DB backed up) along with WinTV / drivers and try your dll update thereafter. That's unless there are better / alternate suggestions.
