Haupauge non MCE remote not working

First let me say that this is probably a Haupauge issue. But, there tech support is not open today.

When i purchased my PVR150 i was not planning on using the remote so i never hooked it up. Now that i have my rig hook to the living room tv my wife will not use it until i get a remote working properly as the mouse doesn't have the range across the room.

All of the posts i have read seem to be for the MCE remotes so i assume that non MCE remotes usually just work. I have tried the wiggle, re-seat, reinstall suggestions to no avail. I do know the remote itself works because i was able to get my sony commander to learn from it.

Has anyone had any experience with this that might indicate something other than just a bad card or dongle?

If you have two cards, the remote sensor needs to be plugged into the last one installed so I would try plugging it into the other card. Neither of my cards is mce so I don't know if the fact that one of your cards is mce will affect anything.

You need to go into the config panel, tab dvd & remote, and press fix 45 or 34 key remote. This adds the appropriate gbpvr commands to irremote.ini that is in your windows directory. There are lots of posts on how to modify it further but I would wait until you get in working first.

The other thing to watch for, and to let your family know, is "focus". If the gbpvr doesm's have focus. that is, another program is active, the remote wont' work. To correct for this, once you get it working, seach "focus" and you will get the solutions offered by others.

Only one of the cards have a remote jack. One is an MCE card without remote. I do remember reading somewhere that the cards may be fighting over control of the remote however i think this was with an external usb type. I will try switching the PCI slots that the two cards are plugged into.

I do not have high hopes for this because if I'm remembering back correctly it wouldn't work with 1 card either and it also is not working with the haupauge software that came with the card.

I had the same issue with the 500MCE and the 350... and it didn't seem to matter which was installed first. The 500MCE always got there first.. especially irritating when the PC woke up from hibernate. Solved this by writing a startup batch script to stop the 500MCE, restart the remote, and then restart the 500MCE. It used DevCon to stop and restart the 500MCE.
