Like an idiot, I enabled Vista firewall despite the fact that I have the Semantec Endpoint Security firewall running. I allowed application specific rules to pass and selected gbpvr.exe, the recording service, and I think epg update. When I tested gbpvr, nothing worked. It did work previous to the firewall changes.
I realized I was just being paranoid and trusted the SEP firewall to do its job, so I turned the Vista firewall off in admin tools (same way I turned it on). GBPVR still didn't work. The inbound rules I created were not there, which is strange, but the firewall is off so it shouldn't matter. I checked firewall in control panel and it is indeed off. (control panel is the dummied down version)
I re-started the gbpvr recording service. No go.
When I chose quick record, the recording service stays asleep. However, it does create a folder, it just never starts to record. I can update the EPG with no problem.
I went as far as to do a system restore to last night when all was good. no go, same as above. I removed GBPVR and re-installed, no go. I still just creates a folder where my recordings are, but never records.
Any suggestions?
