Sub, I can change the channel changer field in GBPVR Config. to MCE or the USB-UIRT plugin and when GBPVR is opened the CPU usage go up.
If I stop the service "Input Service" in MS services then re-open GBPVR CPU is normal. The desc. of that service is "The main component of IR Server Suite, the Input Service provides access to your input devices".
I think that this service is trying to control all these input devices and is doing a pretty good job of it. Not being intimate with either program, it appears the your app. is trying to procur an input device opon opening and IR Server Suite is not letting go of any of them.

GBPVR does work without a hitch if I simply utilize USB-UIRT or MCE plugins. This all started because I was trying to get more functionality with the HIP app. and it was giving me problems, then some folks on this forum suggested IR Server Suite was the cat's meow and here we are.

Maybe it would be easier to shoot the trouble I'm having with GBPVR/HIP combo. I believe I've run the course with BTMI on the issue. It sorta looks like, at least in my case, that the GBPVR app. might be the problem. I'll probably have to just use USB-UIRT plugin and forget the fancy functionallity of HIP or IR Server Suite.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what to suggest. I'm not aware of anything I could be doing differently.

I did too, because like I told SUB, if I stop the service "Input Service", and open GBPVR all is well with another plugin. I had been working with the creator of IR Server Suite Aaron "and-81" over at the Mediaportal forum and even though he's still hasn't given up he suggested I pose the issue here.

How about setting the IR server service to manual. Then in your startup folder, a batch file that starts the service..

net start "IR Server" or whatever it's called

My theory here is to let GB-PVR and it's service start first, and then the IR server starting a bit later.

In that batch file you might want to use a free tool like sleep.exe, which puases the batch for a few seconds...

Your suggestion is one that would/does work but correct me if I'm wrong, Let's say I've set GBPVR to record a couple programs 5 hours apart for sometime in the future and the pc is in S3 power state (deep sleep). The GBPVRrecording Service wakes the PC (this part works) to record the first program. prior to recording, the PC would have to run this "net start IR SERVER" batch file. This would allow GBPVRrecordingService to run without using 100% cpu.

After the first program was recorded another batch file "net stop IR server" would have to run just prior to the PC going back to the S3 power state. otherwise 5 hours later when GBPVRrecordingService wakes the PC too record the second program, the start net batch would run again, but is already running and GBPVR would be using 100% cpu. Right?

Although this would probably work in the short term and with all due respects, isn't this just "painting the pig" as they say to cover up some other underlying issue that my setup has? I wish there were something I could do to find that underlying problem.

If it's any consolation to Sub and all the GBPVR users, it's not the GBPVR app. Because I installed Mediaportal and it does the same thing with IR Server Suite.

Zehd, you said a while back that you suspected the IR Server App. Like I said, I too suspected that app. I pretty much ran the course with the father of it and-81 (Aaron) although he hasn't given up, he suggested I pose this issue to you guy's here at the GBPVR forum because wasn't familar with GBPVR. Well he's very familar with Mediaportal. He responded to my note to him yesterday that he was going to do some serious testing overnight to see if he can reproduce the problem. But it's got to be something unique to my setup because I haven't heard from no one else that they too are having the same issues.

Anyway thanks much for your suggestion and help. Every bit of help and suggestions I get from all of you, get's me a step closer to the solution. I haven't given up, but for now I think I'll just use GB-PVR with the USB-Uirt plugin and fore go the the enhanced features the either HIP or IR Server Suite offers. GB-PVR/USB-UIRT setup works very well, wakes up, changes the channel, records the program and goes back to sleep. Very reliable and consistant.Smile
