Having a little trouble getting the "fake" MCE remote control from Hong Kong to work with my GBPVR setup (I bought it off of eBay and it included a dongle) . What is the difference between the two MCE remotes? How would I setup the one I have with GBPVR?

If the setting the remote type to MCE in the config app doesnt do it, then you'll probably need to look into custom IR software like IR Server Suite, HIP or EventGhost.

That was the first thing that I tried. But it kept using the mouse cursor when I was trying to scroll.

Its probably not really an MCE remote if it is one of those remotes that has a mouse control pad.

It most definitely has a mouse control pad.

I have no idea. There is nothing built in that would support this remote, but if you can find way to get its buttons to send keystrokes to the current application, then you should be able to use it.

I appreciate the help. Would you know the name of remote or "brand", if you will, so I could see what to look for?

the genuine mce remote is cheap
why not just buy one of them
hip may work with the remote you already have if you select the generic driver
then link the keys with the key board
have you tried hip ?
