I noticed that too. The file was widescreen, and instead of centering it, it top-justified it (new term??).

Tipstir, ive installed D.I.K.O and its encoding my widescreen avis to fullscreen. Ive looked through the documentation and on the web for the solution but there's nothing there. Any ideas?

on further investigation the output is widescreen. During conversion the aspect radio button for 4:3 is selected in FreeENC - this is what was throwing me.

Try this
edit transcode.bat replace "scale=1" with "height=576,width=720" these values are for widescreen PAL, alter as appropiate.
