Something in your IP direct connect setup is wrong, it can't open the udp socket so you get broadcast : Network is unreachable

What do you have showing with the following command from telnet?

route

Try this command

route add default gw 192.168.1.1
and then

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m pal

Hi Martin
In telnet I typed in
route add default gw 192.168.1.1
and hit enter. I then got two lines of ##
then I typed in
/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m pal
the response was
/bin/sh: /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2: not found

The popcorn is 192.168.1.2 and the pc is 192.168.1.1

Thanks again for your time

I don't know what to add, last night it was theory but I direct connect my PCH for the first time and it worked. I didn't lose my share so /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 existed before and afterwards.

Did you actually try
cd /etc/mvpmc
mvpmcx2 -m pal

that won't work you would need
./mvpmcx2 -m pal

I'm assuming startmeup already has it, but I want you to try this via telnet. You were able to do it yesterday because I saw it in your putty log.

Thanks Martin
I started the popcorn and then ran the telnet option from the popcorn.
I then went on the telnet from the pc and tried those commands and it responded not found.
I added the route gw but again file not found. Last night I started up the machine without any fire wall but gbpvr still did the same thing with flashing screens on the popcorn.
Sorry about the slow replies as the machines only connection is a wireless usb broadband modem which is only a little bit faster than dialup. Where in a new estate and we cant get broadband.
I know we are not far from getting this to work.
In the route table I noticed that the ip address is 192.168.1.0 when my pc is 192.168.1.1 also there is a 127.0.0.0 in there. When i added the gw I do see that in the route table but under the gateway column not the destination.
I know nothing about networking.
thanks for your patients

The first step is to be able to run mvpmcx2 again like you did yesterday.

The 192.168.1.0 entry is correct, it is saying the route for the whole subnet should be through the wired lan connection. I think that for some reason the emulation mode code requires a default gateway but it's not something I am going to spend a lot of time worrying about.

I'm thinking we can avoid the route by adding --emulate 192.168.1.1 to your startmeup line if all goes like I hope.

Martin
I put in --emulate 172.16.3.1 in the start up
Where the -- to go in to. I did try both ways on the popcorn but the same response both times. I did swich off the popcorn both times
Would I need to add this address to zonealarm
thanks again
Dave
