Help installing

I just purchased a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR1800 and installed in my new computer today. I can't get the installer file for gbpver to be recognized by windows installer. I am not very computer savvy, so any help is appreciated.

I have windows xp as my OS. When I try to install the media center I get a pop up message that says:

"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

My guess is Windows Installer may have problems. Try updating: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...layLang=en

this is NOT a windows installer issue! I have upgraded most of the common components of windows including windows installer 3.1 and the MSI installer is not recognized. Has anyone had success with the file that is CURRENETLY posted?

Lots of people have had success with it. I'm not sure why it would not be working for you.

What are you downloading the file with? (IE / Firefox)

Also, you may want to use a program to get the MD5 hash of the installer, you can then have someone compare the hash to a known working version - then you could see if it's actually a corrupted download.
