DIVX video playback

I have couple of DIVX video files but encountered some files will not able to playback in PVRX2. If click on the files at windows and it's able to playback without any problem but fail to playback in pvrx2. Anyone has a solution? Thanks.

What player are you playing back the files with in windows? What's happening is that the player in windows is using different directshow filters to those being used by PVRX2. PVRX2 uses the default filters and something must be wrong with your defaults causing this behaviour.

I am using window media classic to play back and it works but not in pvrx2. Another strange behavior is some avi files totally lost control in pvrx2 not even the mouse have any effect on the screen. There is only volume and backspace have control. Anything I could set to resolve this in pvrx2? Thanks.

remove divx and install xvid

You must have MPC set to use different filters to that set for PVRX2, can you check what it's using? Alternatively, install ffdshow and activate it for xvid/divx files - it's not an easy prog to use on first glance but it's by far the most flexible once you get the hang of it.

This will also solve your remote problem as I'm pretty sure that's being caused by your using the divx filters to playback these files, and divx creates a tray icon which can steal focus and hence stop the remote working.

By the way what is MPC and how do I activate the filters. Currently I have Klite codec pack installed in my pc. This codec allows me to play all files in windows but not all avi files in PVRX2 and is PVRX2 using the same codec?

Afaik MediaPlayerClassic (MPC) can use directshow filters but also has it's own filters it can use. If WindowsMediaPlayer can play it, GBPVR should be able too.

Edit: The advice to use Xvid instead of divx is agood one I think.

Apparently in my case the media player classic has no problem playing some AVI but not gbpvr so is there any setting in the config that I can do?

Install xvid codec that should make it the default one
you are alos best to remove divx from your machine to ensure this happens

I tried uninstall the k-lite mega codec and Divx and with just Xvid in the system. This has causes almost all the video cannot play even at windows. Still trying to figure out what cause one of the avi file not able to play at gbpvr but no problem on windows.
