First off I want to say thank you to all the folks who have worked on GB-PVR and its plugins. Although I'm not all the way there yet (still a few small issues with the Dbox2Recorder Plugin - posted in another thread) I've had a relatively trouble-free time setting it up.

And I want to apologise if this is the wrong place to post this thread - I checked the obvious sections out and did a forum search and couldn't come up with anything relevant.

So without any further preamble, here are my problems:

I have a couple of small issues with cross-indexing the TV Guide's EPG and the channels that my DBox2 has picked up through the plugin.

First off I found that I had to hand input all the channel numbers from the Radio Times XML feed to the Dbox2 capture device listings. Is this normal or is there an automated way to do it because I'm worried that I'll have to redo this when I (a) reinstall and (b) update my EPG.

Secondly there are a couple of channels missing - nothing really major but I'd like to be able to record Baby TV. I checked the RT website and they don't list it as an available channel from my service provider. But I do get it, I promise Smile

Thirdly there are some huge leaps of faith needed when it comes to matching channel names. The RT XML file lists all the BBC and ITV regional channels with the correct names but my DBox2 isn't putting out the whole information string. Any help here?

Fourth (and last) - is there any way to re-order the channels listed in the TV Guide? They seem to be totally random and nonsensical. I can live without them being ordered according to any genre specific definitions, but A to Z would definately be a step up.

I'm hoping that there might be an xml file listing all the channel information that I can hand edit, but I haven't found it yet.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide some help.

These are really related to fact that you're using the DBox2 plugin, and it has to jump through a few hoops to try to get things working and configured. The built-in plugins arent perfect either, but they do feel more integrated and some of this setup stuff is definitely easier.

The TV Guide orders channels based on the channel numbers specified on the Channels tab of the config app, so you should be able to edit those to get the order you want.

Thanks for the reply sub.

If I am reading you correctly all I need to do is go through the EPG list and re-order the channels, making sure that these are the same in the DBox2Recorder plugin channel listing.

Is this something I would need to do everytime I update my EPG when I get a new XML dump?

If this is the wrong section to be discussing this in please move it to the DBox2Recorder Plugin thread.

Cheers Smile

GB-PVR doesnt really know anything about the DBox2Recorder plugin, and none of its settings effect the order things are shown. The channels in the TV Guide are ordered in the number order specified on the Channels tab. I dont know if this plugin uses the channel number for its own internal mapping though (allowing things to function and show the correct channel), so you may need to look into that side of things.

No, the app will remember any updates to the channel numbers on the Channels tab.

Great stuff sub, thanks again.

Do you know of an XML file (aside from the one the dump from Radio Times because my editor doesn't like the size of it) that I could edit?

Some of the channel names are too long for the width of the box that the TV Guide displays them in and they wrap around, so is there any way to change the font and font size that TV Guide uses?

I'm thinking that there must be some kind of config file. I've found config.xml and config-live.xml in GBPVR\Skin2\blue\TV Guide\. Am I on the right track?

I had read there is some config file for the radio times xmltv grabber that enables you to rename channels. I'm not in the UK, so dont use that grabber and cant give you the exact details.

You can change the font in the skin.xml files if you need to though.

Hi Sub,

I've found a couple of XML files and edited them to almost get the result I want. I can live with the TV Guide as it is for now.

Quick question - the "Recordings" plugin that is installed with GB-PVR is for checking up on the recordings that GB-PVR has been set up to do isn't it?

The reason I ask is that when I select Recordings in the main menu it shows me a blank screen in which I get the briefest glances of a menu on the left. Then it reverts back to the main menu. IS there a way I can fix this so I can use it? I've checked for an alternate plugin and there doesn't seem to be one.

Cheers for your help,

Reproduce this problem, then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and I'll take a look.

Thanks Sub,

I've zipped the entre log folder again. I got an error from WinRar when I zipped them up because a couple of them were locked because I'm currently recording. I hope this gives you the info you need to help me - I tried to enter Recordings three times so that the log had an obvious place to start.

LMK if you need any extra files. I'm here for a couple of hours at least.

It looks like you've somehow managed to create a recording with an illegal path. You might need to use a tool like SQLiteSpy to look in the RECORDING_SCHEDULE table to look at the filenames.
