IR Receiver & Remote Recommondation

I have a client PC running W2K, it does not have any kind of tuner installed, runs strictly as a client to my gbpvr server.

I'd like to be able to control it with a remote, and am looking for some advice on what type of IR Receiver and Remote (preferably < $50) will:

• Work on W2K
  
• Work with GBPVR
  

Any suggestions?

I got an MCE remote for 99p on ebay. Not sure if its W2K compatible, but XP drivers are available, so can;t see why they wouldn't work on 2000.

Looks like the MCE solution only works on XP and above. My client probably can't even run XP. Thanks for the tips tho...

I used the MCE remote with HIP on 2000 for months. Girder would probably work as well, but I found the former is a lot easier on resources.

And, amusingly, Google also turned up this thread, so if the MCE remote is in the right price range, I'm sure it can be coaxed to work.

How about the ATI Remote Wonder? It's RF and works well with GBPVR with lots of buttons to customize; you can move the mouse with it even if you want.

Did I mention I have one I could sell you? :p

MCE remote should work

i would say the only difference with 2000 is you will either have to try and find the ehome drivers
or just load the hip drivers up to get it working with hip the only difference been is that you will have to learn the all the button inputs, which you dont need to do if you use the eh home(Microsoft drivers) that come with xp
