Hello,

I seem to be having a problem with manual recording. I have the latest GBPVR 1.2.13 and when I set it to manually record a channel for say 5 hours.. the file is only around 30 minutes.. Yesterday I had it scheduled to record from 5:20pm to 10pm and when I look at the recording and GBPVR says its last recording was that exact amount of time..

Any idea why my files are incomplete? There is no evidence that the program crashed or stopped the recording at any time.. The hard drive has plenty of space..

Thanks,
Curtis

Post the logs and the name&time of the recording and I'll take a look.

ok here are all my logs from the logs folder. The date and time of the recording is:

August 19th, 5:20pm-10:00pm

If you need more examples of dates and times where this occurred I can look it up. I had this happen multiple times.

Thanks,
Curtis

According to GB-PVR it did record from 5:20pm - 10:00pm.

I'd check that its not just reporting the file as being shorter than it really is. ie, is it a big file on disk? If left playing, does it play past the reported duration.

If it really is short, then thats not a good sign, and probably means the capture device spontaneously stopped delivering data. Some Hauppauge cards used to do this if the capture device was sharing an IRQ with another device - I'm not sure if ATI cards have any similar known problems that can cause it to stop providing data.

GB-PVR basically sets up the recording, then tells it to start, then comes back later to tell it to stop. If it stops between those two points, then GB-PVR isnt aware of it. Its very uncommon to have things stop between those two points, and never a good thing.

The file definitely is short, and the size indicates that it must have stopped sending data. That sucks for me! This doesn't happen every time, but it has happened at least 3 times that I am aware of.

I've also had this card for awhile and previously used this under version .99 or whatever and this has never happened. Do you think that its a coincidence it just started occurring? Maybe something in the hardware went bad.

Thanks,
Curtis

Nothings changed in the analog recording stuff in a very long time, and there has been no other reports of these sorts of problems, and GB-PVR doesnt play an active role in the recording other than telling it to start and stop which seems to be working fine, so I'm pretty sure its not related to you upgrading to a newer version. Maybe some other things have changed about your system that is triggering the problem? other hardware added, capture device driver changes, dma chipset driver changes etc?
