With a widescreen tv it will do what is expected. Here is actual, full screen and cropped. If you find SD bad resolution is bad on HD display cropped will even be worse, fewer bits of information over a big screen.

However on a 4:3 display it does not remove the black bars and distort the image or create a pan & scan type 4:3 output. That could be because it is PAL though.

Thanks Martin! That last picture is how I'd like to see it on my widescreen CRT. On a 4:3 screen it shouldn't crop, so it's working like it's supposed to.

I hope this firmware is available soon.

To be clearer on a 4:3 only monitor I don't think you will see what you want.

Chris, today's beta helps this somewhat. In addition to cropping it does allow a zoom with pan & scan via the remote which is what I think you wanted.
