I have setup my GBPVR box behind my TV without a mouse nor keyboard. I am able to access with my laptop with remote desktop. When I start GBPVR, I get an error message 'This system does not appear to support VRM9. Please try a different renderer.' It does work fine if I have a mouse and keyboard pluggged into it. So it appears GBPVR requires a mouse and keyboard to run. Am I correct?

My guess is that without a mouse/keyboard attached Windows is disabling the graphics system as it thinks no-one is looking.

when you say it works with a mouse and keyboard attached are you meaning that you are looking directly at the tv with the mouse and keyboard plugged in - or are you meaning you still are looking at the screen via Remote Desktop - i have the same thing when i use Remote Desktop i.e. cannot run gbpvr when remotely connected that way - to get around it i use Remote Assistance - i configured a button on my remote to accept the prompts that you get when you connect and take control - gbpvr works a dream and can be controlled via the pc im sitting at.

hope that helps

I have to say that I have been successfully running GBPVR with no mouse or keyboard attached and accessing via a laptop with VNC and have never had any problems. Recently I have added a mouse since it can be quicker than having to start up the laptop for something simple.

No, you don't need to have mouse nor keyboard to run GBPVR. I'm running GBPVR v1.2.13 on w2k3std as GBPVR server (watching recordings with PC clients). This machine doesn't have even display attached.

But when connecting to server using remote desktop, you can't run GBPVR v.1.2.13 (or newer) PVRX2 using remote desktop if in config is renderer set up as VRM9. Nor "overlay" mode works with remote desktop and PVRX2 unfortunately. But, previous versions prior current one, it used GBPVR not PVRX2 ui but the old ui (and removed from current release) worked.

But there is one trick you could run PVRX2 via remote management, setting renderer to overlay and using either VNC to connect to console or running remote desktop from command line and adding parameter "-0" or "-console" to it (ie. "mstsc -0 192.168.66.99").

Try using VNC and see if it works. Like scim, I have used VNC with success for a long time.
Screen updates can be a bit laggy, but it is tolerable.

If I remote desktop into the GBPVR box when there is no mouse/keyboard attached to it, I get the error. If I attach a mouse/keyboard and remote desktop in, I don't get the error. Reason I don't want to attach a mouse/keyboard is I don't want them hanging around the living room, thought I would just remote desktop in since I always have a laptop running close by. Can anyone maybe suggest a portable mouse/keyboard, something like a remote control instead of a seperate mouse and keyboard?

I will also check into using VNC.

Thanks so much for the replies.

I am able to run GBPVR with VNC. Now I have to learn how to use VNC properly. Thanks for all the help.

I think that your problem with RD is that the system is in power saving mode for the screen which will result in the VMR9 error. The mouse/keyboard wakes up your screen overcoming the problem.

If you issue a fullwake to the OS then RD will work too.

In Autoit use:

Code:
DllCall ("kernel32.dll","long","SetThreadExecutionState","long",0x00000002)

or I think there is a fullwake exe on here somewhere which do the same thing.
