I'm also a new user and having a similar problem. I've installed GB-PVR and used the default skin with the MVP. No problem. I've now switched to the Digital Plus - E skin and I get the error message "Error:Object reference not set to an instance of an object." When I start GB-PVR on my desktop.
Second question. How do I get MVP to pick up the new skin? Do I need to power cycle the MVP?

I loaded the default Skin and then changed to a different skin and that is when I get the error. No matter what skin I choose after that I get the above error.. I am using a dual setup with Pvr 150 and Pvr 350 in a P/3 677 with 512 ram..
and the newest version of GBPVR
I think what is happening is that it does not like the EPG data. Something is wrong in your EPG setup. People ask what skin you have installed becuase a new version of gbpvr was released last week and all the issued skins will not work until they are updated. Use the default skin for now. If you go into recordings and step through manual record do you see any channels? Then pop back into the guide does it work or do you get the error still.
