Newbie having problems

Greetings.

I've been playing around with gb for a few days now. I got it working to some extent but was having problems with channels above 70. They all came in fuzzy and distorted on the live tv. I figured if I played with the settings enough I could get the rest to come in - wrong. I did something that now I can't get anything out of live tv.

I looked through some of the log files and noticed this in one of them:

2008-09-18 17:10:33.656 ERROR Failed to find encoder filter

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

You'd need to set the logging level back to 'debug' and reproduce problem and repost the logs.

Its hard to tell from the logs, but it looks like the device might already be in use elsewhere in the system?

Not sure what else would be using the card, but I went through and disabled the majority of non essential system processes and even disabled/enabled the card. It's still doing the same thing, however I did notice that my recording status or capture source 1 is sleeping. I don't know if that helps much or not. I'll keep messing with it, maybe I'll get lucky

Are you running on an MCE machine, or Vista HomePremium/Ultimate? On these you'd probably need to stop the MCE services from running.

I'm running Windows XP SP3.

What model device do you have exactly?

Hauppauge HVR 1600

It's working again, I removed WinTV and GB, reinstalled everything and it's back to where it was before. I'm still not able to go past channel 70 on live tv though.
