HD PVR - Making the Remote Work

First - thanks to all who helped with the previous struggle. We're on to a new (and hopefully as easy) problem now.

Is there a trick to making the HDPVR remote work within GBPVR? NOT the blaster -- we have not got that far yet -- at this point, we just want to control PVRX2 itself.

With the first system I set up (with an ATI550), I just plugged the receiver into the computer and that was pretty much it. However, the HD PVR capture isn't being as kind.

We tried the "fix Haup remote buttons" buttons, which did no good, but I'm not really surprised there. Heck, since it is the HDPVR that is receiving the remote command, and (presumably!) sending them through the USB, I'm not convinced the "remote" settings in config have anything to do with it.

But that leaves me out of places to look. I didn't find any other posts concerning troubles setting up the remote, so presumably we're just being dense.

Once again, any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

I got the remote to work for me but I wrote my own irremote.ini so that I could use it with my universal remote. I got help to do this from the sagetv forums. Can you control other programs like Windows Media Player?

Hiya!

Well, so far, one button on the remote works -- the "menu" button seems to act as the tab key, and will happily move the focus around the screen. But that's it. Arrow keys and the like, nothing.

To make things more interesting, we DID get the remote working well, but then playback stopped. (Recording seemed fine, but the results would not play.) "Clearly things are confused!" we decided, especially since we had reverted back from the beta Haup. drivers.

So - we started fresh again (although I'll have to confirm if he went all the way back to reinstall XP), and now the remote is gone again (save for that menu key), but playback has returned - although with issues: the playback actually seems to 'slow down', particularly during a scene change. So I'm not sure we're ahead, or behind, where we were before.

It's been an interesting experience, but I think we're ready to move beyond the learning stage now and actually start using it.

Once again, any suggestions are appreciated!

Ommina, what are you using for the receiver attached to the computer? Is it a usb ir device?
