During the capture card I checked "only show devices detected on this machine" It found a Hauppauge HVR 2200. My card is a HVR 2250. If I select the HVR 2200 Will it act the same as if it would have been an HVR 2250?

That's how mine showed up....2200. No problems on this end though I'm working thru some QAM issues. I'm not sure but I think I read that the 2250 was for the states and the 2200 for Europe but that doesn't explain why ours shows up at the 2200. I searched for an answer but stopped just because what I bought works.

Yeah, mine shows up as a 2250. I am also fighting QAM issues.

Your using XP and I'm in Vista though I can boot into XP and see if I have any more luck.
Actually, these cards are new so I'm sure with time, we'll get these babies working in GBPVR. sub has to learn with new cards too so with us blasting him with pleas for help, soon we'll be QAMing well! :o
You and I may have to hookup soon to share more notes. Perhaps discussing this between each other, we might actually help each other.
I hope to spend a good part of this weekend working on this as I'll finally have time. I just got some very good quality coax cable (RG6) and am going to see if that makes any difference as well.

I am still not sure how these should show up in the capture card tab - originally, it was a BDA recording plugin, but I had so many issues, I ran HWCLEAR.exe, rebooted, reinstalled all SW, and now all I can pick is Digital Recording plugin. Haven't had a chance to see how it scans yet, maybe tonight.

I really hate to pee in the water but I removed the 2250 and added it back and now it DOES show as a 2250! 2 choices, 2250 and 2250 (QAM). I wonder if the driver version makes a difference.

You will have to do a search, but as I recall there is an ini file change for it to see it as a 2250 correctly. I remember making the change when I installed.

Yes! Hauppage telephone support indicated 4.7 is required for the 2250. When I ran a 1250 and 2250 in the same machine, both 4.6 and 4.7 were installed simultaneously. Both cards were recognized and functioned. However, the 2250 tuner is so insensitive, I RMA'ed it.

Have you gotten the replacement 2250 yet? If so, does it tune better? You are referring to version 4.7 of the drivers, correct?
