Is it possible to stream over the network?

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to stream TV over my wireless network, so when my laptop requests it, it picks up a TV signal from my main PC with the decoder and aerial, and will stream it wherever you are within range of your network?

yes. if you've got a sturdy network and a good laptop you may get client mode working http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/PCClient
or better might be to use the built in webadmin as it can be set to use a lower bitrate - you'll need to install vlc on both machines tho to handle the actual transcoding/streaming.

i have it on my laptop just using client mode file sharing and ts files (maybe different depending on where you are and HD wont work)
and i cant get mpeg files to work using sharing but they work streaming lucky for me thats only one station
try it and see what happens post what happens if you have issues

Thanks for that, I reckon I'm going to need help with this, but I will try first and see what happens, if it doesn't work, I post here, and try and get some help with it.

As I guessed, I'm having trouble getting it to work, on my laptop I want to stream to, I choose a channel and then it goes back to the TV guide, I can see the EPG data is working, as I can see the wireless activity light flashing when I choose to go on the TV guide, but I can't seem to get the TV channel to actually stream, any help?

And my wireless network is capable of streaming properly, as I have also been able to play streamed recordings on my laptop from my computer that has the decoder and aerial plugged in.

what are you recording from ie digital using dvrms cyberlink mux ts or analog which gives you a mpeg file

Would it be easier if I sent you the logfile? As I don't know where to find this info?

It looks like you've entered the incorrect server name. Its unable to resolve the name.
