Find and download THMpgMux.ax it is available from a public source (search the forums) EDIT: the link in the (miss)quote above (or below depending on your forum preferences) won't work and is nothing to do with me
put it somewhere sensible on the server
on the server: start menu -> run -> regsvr32 "path\to\THMpgMux.ax"
config -> misc2 -> BDA Multiplexer -> cyberlink
now all your recordings (and live TV) should be mpeg - I guess it was dvr-ms before maybe???
PS when you schedule a recording it will record on the server. Your laptop will then stream it back off the server when you go to watch it.
