On the Wiki it says StartPVRX2 will not switch the focus to PVRX2 if "PVRX2 is active but minimised"

I have a several custom tasks and they all have "Hide GBPVR, then reappear after program finishes" checked.

Will StartPVRX2 consider that "active but minimized" and not switch the focus back to PVRX2?

Thanks for picking up that point.

I guess that was poor wording on my part left over from the old GBPVR days, when the application would minimise.

Now (I find anyway) there's no option to minimise PVRX2 when you run it full screen, so that wiki wording should say that StartPVRX2 checks whether PVRX2 has focus and, if not, makes it active (ie gives it the focus) after a user-configurable delay. The activation is put on hold if the app detects that either:
1. Config is running or
2. There has been mouse activity since the last timeout of the delay.

I'll change the wiki when I get time.

The next rev (prob version 1.82) will also detect keyboard activity and delay giving focus to PVRX2, so you're interacting with another app, you won't be interrupted.

Hope that explanation helps.

Hi liteswap,

I changed a little for using environment variable %ProgramFiles% instead of "c:\program files", because on german systems it's called "c:\programme" and your originally posted executable does not work. Find attached the changed source file. Maybe someone is able to test it on different system languages.

Sounds like a worthwhile change - thanks goy2k for the update (and source). I'll check it out and incorporate it in the next rev.

What does this do if you launch an external app, will it try to override it and put you back to pvrx2?

StartPVRX2 is aimed at those using their PVR purely as a PVR, rather than those whose main PC also happens to be a media PC.

So what StartPVRX2 does is prefer PVRX2 as the application to be given focus. It waits for a user-definable delay (default=20 secs) before giving the focus to PVRX2 if it is lost for whatever reason. In a pure PVR scenario, this is most likely to be due to automated dialogue boxes and the like, which can make the PVR stop responding to input from users (who usually have a remote rather than keyboard or mouse).

There are two exceptions to this process:
1. If the GBPVR Config application is running, StartPVRX2 waits until it closes
2. If there is user activity (eg keyboard/mouse), StartPVRX2 waits until that activity ceases - the aim is to allow you to work on the PC temporarily.

Hope that makes it clear - any tweaks you think might be useful, I'll happily take them into consideration - or, since the source is open, you can tweak it yourself...

No problem. I thought that's what it did, and it should. I was just hoping that there was a chance it wouldn't. It's all good.

This is absolutely fantastic. I have been looking/trying to find a suitable startup program for my dedicated mediaserver (file server/torrent box/itunes server...etc)Needed slowass itunes to get in the background. Zstart was overkill.

There is one problem however. It took me so long to find it.
Cheers, keep up the great work.
