I happened to go see if there was an update for the pch today and on throught the PCH maintenance screen there was one released today (20th January)

Just wondering if this affects GBPVR in anyway and can we use the resume feature

Thanks

From what I read the firmware is available online but there is no changelog 'til tomorrow. I didn't see any negative impact on GBPVR in the final release, (some betas did) and it will be better with the mpeg-ts files they broke in the last firmware and some mkv's do play better.

Resume is supported on the last 10 files but it is not stored in flash and sub opted not to integrate the resume with GBPVR at all :-( so if you turn off/unplug your machine these settings will be lost.

There is also no prompt to resume, it just does so if you want to restart you need to hit the normal 0 remote key to go to the beginning of the file.

What's the best source for info like this, besides you? Wink The networkedmediatank forums feel very disorganized and overwhelming to find anything. Maybe there are key forum or two there I should be watching, or maybe you have a better source.

I have some recent SD clear QAM .ts recordings that won't playback on the PCH even though the HD clear QAM ones from other channels are fine, and I'm not sure how to find out what problems are known and what aren't.

if you just want firmware info, then just subscribe to the firmware announcement forum:
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/forumd...php?fid=11

Or the individual firmware release thread: (A100) - http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...p?tid=4297
A110 - http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...p?tid=7518

Also the beta changelogs are usually online in the Firmware forum
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...p?tid=8159

It's overwhelming for sure I read maybe 5% of the posts very selectively. I knew the firmware was coming because the betaforum thread was closed.

As for diagnosing problems with mpeg-ts files, that isn't normally a priority unless there is a regression and it stopped working in one release like psycik and Sheik Yerbouti found last time around.

What I do to diagnose mpeg-ts issues when a file doesn't play

- look at the file with mediainfo
- play it with vlc to see if there are errors in the stream
- run through ts4np or tsdoctor. If it plays after the fix forget about getting Syabas to fix it. Most issues relate to the this and since it is pass thru to the hardware mux, if it fails you have to await new Sigma microcode and hope.
- If this doesn't fix it and it plays in GBPVR (now my standard for TS quality) I would pass it to the authour of TSDoctor to see if he can figure out what is wrong with it and also to Syabas

I'd be happy to look at a 50MB sample via megaupload or other free file sharing site to see if it plays via the software demux I am working on.

Hmmm, not nice. Not integrating the resume with GBPVR is very bad for the WAF. And this really feels like missing a great opportunity to add functionality to the PCH that no other PCH app has (database driven resume).
