stustunz - I've been using the same exact driver version you indicated above. Device Manager says both tuner devices are working properly, so I'm thinking the hardware driver is not the problem?

Thanks, phil.

ok fair enough but thats the first thing i always try
plus mine is not the same so what works on mine may not on yours (your card is newer so it will probably need newer drivers and just cause it doesnt have error codes doesnt mean it going to work perfect)
i did find posts elsewhere saying that pvr500 come with 2 different tuners
but as i see it the Philips ones are big tuners and samsung ones are smaller (the box with the white sticker)
hopefully sub may be able to help you

I think I've made some progress - very close, but still not quite working right.

In the Configuration application, Misc tab, the Deinterlacing setting was set by default to "Encoder pass-through". I got everything working except Live TV, which displayed video for a random channel, no audio, and changing channels had no effect, i.e. the silent video continued, but did not change to another channel. The Watch function in TV Guide behaved the same way - no sound, no ability to select a channel.

I changed that Deinterlacing setting to "None", and now I am able to change channels on Live TV, and I also get the correct audio for every channel I select. Unfortunately, now there is no video - the screen stays black. Once again, the Watch function in TV Guide behaves the same as Live TV -- sound ok, but no video. Recording still works properly, with audio and video correct.

I don't know what deinterlacing is (the Wiki contains no documentation for this setting), or why turning it off fixes my audio, but breaks my video in Live TV. Any advice would be appreciated. Logs attached. Thanks, phil.

You pretty much need to leave that set to 'encoder pass through'. It shouldnt have any impact on which channel is tuned though.

Sub - I can do that, but then Live TV becomes basically useless.

The Deinterlacing setting definitely does have the impact I described above -- I've checked several times. Is it possible my problem has something to do with the way 'encoder pass through' is working? Otherwise, I'm all out of ideas.

Thanks, phil.

stustunz - Attached are gbpvr.db3, and config.xml - are those the right ones? Note that I had to truncate the db3 file -- it was about 7MB, and even zipped it exceeded the file size limit for posting here on the forum. Thanks, phil

Stustunz asked above whether my PVR500 card was a Type A or a Type B. Turns out, this was the key to solving my problem. I had a Type B Hauppauge card, and have since replaced it with a Type A card I picked up on ebay.

That fixed everything -- I made no other changes to my system, and GB-PVR now works perfectly! Clearly, there is something about the Type B cards (or at least my Type B card), that conflicts slightly with GB-PVR.

Thanks Stustunz and everyone else -- this was driving me nuts. Software works great now.
