I cant think of any reason the built in stuff would do that, but it'd be interesting to see if your transcode job has any relationship to this?

Well...it turns out that it is in the Transcode batch process I have setup.

Apparently some files cause FFMPEG to crap out when it is copying the .ts to a .mpeg container (no real transcode just changing the container) which results in a 0 byte file.

I have now added logic in the batch file to only use transcoded files that are 90% or greater the size of the original file size. This has proven that it catches the 0 byte files as well as one file that was 6k which was only a fraction of a file.

I am past the 0 byte file thing....but what I am now looking into is what is in the files that is causing the FFMPEG trascode to crap out. I never had the issue before so not sure what is causing the problem....

Could be the recording process or it could be something in the data stream itself. I am going to re-hookup and check the cable connections just in case one of the cats got in and loosened something by accident.

It is rare that I get a .ts file that has a solid enough timeline that I can skip and see actual programme length.....that is why I started running them through the simple copy to a .mpg container with FFMPEG.....it is quick and fixed the timeline issue.

If I find something of concern I will start a new thread since it would be more related to perhaps a corrupt recording process or something.

Hi all, first time poster but long time user of GB-PVR and lurker of these forums.
I too am experiencing problems with the latest rollup patches. Config locks up scanning for QAM channels and errors out with DEP kicking in. As a previous poster pointed out the problem is with the new psiparser.ax. I swap that out and replace it with the old one and everything works fine. I've tried this on 2 separate PC's and both have the same problem with the new psiparser.ax.
The only thing these 2 boxes have in common are that they are running Vista (Ultimate and Home Premium Editions) and have a Hauppauge HVR-1800 as the primary capture card. One is an Intel based system, the other AMD. Scanning does start to commence but as soon as it hits the first active channel instant lockup and data execution prevention kicks in. I even tried to add a DEP exception for it so that I might be able to grab a dump when it crashed but no go, Vista wouldn't allow it. Everything looks normal in the logs right up to the point DEP kicks and then nothing or I'd post them.
I see that some people are successfully running these patches while some of us aren't so lucky so there has to be some common element yet to be discovered.
Only other thing I can think to add is for decoders I'm using PowerDVD 8 Deluxe (with latest patches) for the MPEG decoder and ffdshow for the AC3 audio. I even tried the built in Microsoft MPEG-2 Decoder with the same result.

With the patches applied, try creating a c:\temp directory, and a HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Devnz\RecordFullTS=1 registry setting, then reproduce this scan crash, then zip and attach the c:\temp\full.ts file. If its too big, you might need to find some where you can upload it for me to download from.

Sorry, I was targetting that reply at kayfam, with his crash.

Yours is probably a case of ffmpeg not liking something about your broadcasters encoding parameters. You might need to find one of those recordings that fail to transcode, then manually run ffmpeg on it and see what error it reports. You may not be able to do anything about it though (other than trying different ffmpeg versions).

Do you still have these timestamp problems if you leave the files as .ts files? There have been a lot of improvements in recent months in this area. If you've been doing your transcode for a while, you may not need to any more.

It sounds like there is something in stream that the new parsing isnt handling correctly. Hopefully with that 'full.ts', I'd be able to see the situation here.
