I dug out my other old h264/ts test files, and these do playback, sort of, for these we get back to the FF and audio sync issue from a few months back. So there must be something weird about this particular test file (though its perfectly happy in graphedt).

Basically GBPVR splitting doesn't talk to CoreAVC consistenly, or vice-versa.

Last time round this loop I had to install Cyberlink PowerDVD...which I really don't want to do. Looks like I'll be playing these H264/TS files with something outside of GBPVR. Ho hum. H264 only works in a container other than MKV, and for those ffdshow is fine, we don't need CoreAVC.

It looks like its unable to find the audio/video pids in that file. If you can make a 30MB or so chunk available for me to download, I'll check it out for you. Here is a utility to cut a chunk from the file: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=2

Got it.

You're right. GB-PVR doesnt like this file. It doesnt seem to be able to identify the PIDs in this this file. I've tried a few other utilities (like TSReader), and none of them are able to either though. It is also particularly strange that this file has three programs in it, which makes me think this isnt a recording created by GB-PVR?

you are right, it didn't come from GBPVR. I think my friend used DVBviewer or something to get the file from SkyHD via a DVBS2 card. As this is the only totally unplayable one, I'll try and get him to create another one. No more for you to do here I think, thanks for analysing the file though.

Other H264/TS files just exhibit our well known FF/audio sync issue we were troubleshooting a while ago...nothing new there.

Cheers

Can someone supply me with an H.264 recording from GBPVR (or partial) for some testing?

It wasnt a GB-PVR recording, but you can find some New Zealand transport stream files with H.264 video here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/Fossie/4877

That'll work. I'll try to look into the ffdshow problem.

A key part of whats needed is the directshow media type for the H.264 decoder (major type + minor type + expected format type/data). Unfortunately every decoder seems to have used a different combination.

I figured that was the issue. I've patched ffdshow a couple of times now to connect to the ArcSoft Demux for BD playback of HD audio.
