It is necessary to install and configure a TV tuner card (hardware device) as the capture source? Without setting up one or more computers in a client/server configuration, why can't you configure the capture source by pointing to a URL and capture the video stream? If this is possible can someone describe how to configure this?

On this same topic, channels could be defined as different URL video streams. Granted the video quality may not be as high but at least you can capture video streams without the need for cable TV or a tuner card.

I am pretty sure this isn't the purpose of GBPVR...

Definitely, there is currently no way to capture streaming video as a capture source.

Ubustream was going to have this type of functionality added - but I don't think its being developed any longer (http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/UbuStream2)

I know there was some functionality to record audiop - but not sure if it got any further than that.
