Hello everyone =)

I am very new to this DVB stuff so please excuse the noobish -_-

Today I installed GB-PVR v1.3.11 on my pc running Windows 7 to use with my new el cheapo dvb-t usb receiver. I have set it all up and it is working perfectly. Very nice software.

I wanted to try it out over my network - wireless (G). I know it says it might not work but I would like to try anyway.

So I installed GB-PVR v1.3.11 on my other PC running XP and following the instructions in the FAQ "Networking with GBPVR", set up all the network shares. I can now see TV Guide etc. but when I click "watch" the screen goes black for about 2 seconds then returns to the TV Guide screen. Same happens if I try to watch a recorded show.

Should I not be seeing something (eg. slow glitchy laggy TV) at least, even if my network is too slow? Is it some other problem causing this?

I have Combined Community Codec pack installed. I can watch the .TS files from the server's shared folder on the client PC in Media Player Classic, they play fine.

I don't have any plugins installed other than those that came with the default install.

Thank you.

It sounds like you are a decoder on the client.

Start GBPVR on the client, re-produce the problem, close GBPVR and post the logs from Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\logs

Thank you for your reply... sorry, I must have been in the middle of editing my first post when you posted. I closed the client, tried again, here are the newer logs

The log contains ...

Graph contains the following filters:
2009-06-01 22:13:41.671 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
2009-06-01 22:13:41.671 VERBOSE - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
2009-06-01 22:13:41.671 VERBOSE - SOURCE

This suggests that GBPVR ain't finding a decoder.

The stock advice on this forum is to install ...

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm

and

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

Good Luck

Stream mode is not compatible with .ts files, which is what you're using. Try switching the client file sharing mode instead.

Ok I tried changing it to file sharing mode and now I get a black screen. And the server says it's recording whatever program I chose to play on the client. :\

I don't think I changed anything to make it do .ts files, is there some way to change this? I think it is in misc2 tab under BDA Multiplexer on the server? But the only options I have there are Microsoft DVR-MS, TS Mux and Full TS. It is set to TS Mux (I think it was there by default, unless I changed it by accident). WHat's the best one to use? The wiki says something bout mpeg2 files but I don't seem to have that option

To make MPEG2 files from your card, you will need to find & download either the ATI or Cyberlink mux filter, and select that on the MISC2 tab.

When watching any program on the client, it will always be recording it, as it needs to start a recording, which the client starts to play.

The file will be removed from the server after finishing, I think.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Thats normal. It is recording when you watch live tv on a client PC.

thank you.

It seems to be working now but it quite glitchy so I think I'll leave it until I can move some things around and use a network cable instead. But thank you very much for all your help!

About the mpeg2 format - I have installed CyberLink PowerDVD 9, this should have the mux filter I need? After installing it I don't see any more options in that "BDA Multiplexer" box, is there something else I need to do? Or have I got the wrong cyberlink thing?
