Jaggy you are correct. The Network Browser launch and CSI hard disk install don't need a fixed IP but it is recommended for NMT server based installs.

I am sure I am missing something really obvious and I know this is a stupid question but, can anyone explain what the "CSI hard disk install" does?

Have a look at this link http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=42206 and maybe click through to the NMT forums or check out this wiki entry http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i..._Installer If you use an internal drive with the NMT apps it is easiest way to install GBPVR support on the NMT.
